My first time making the Ellie & Mac Discoverer Tee and I am in love! The pattern takes the sometimes daunting task of colour blocking and makes it a breeze, even for most inexperienced beginners. The end result features a flattering curved line along the upper bust, a choice of banded or regular hem and three sleeve lengths.
Using my projector the tee was cut and assembled in no time following the beginner friendly and easy to understand instructions.

For this make I used a cotton Lycra remnant (approx 40cm x WOF) as my feature fabric which was enough to get the front and back upper bodice as well as the neck band….just!
The feature print is called ‘The Mighty Jungle’ and is designed by talented Aussie Artist Deb McNaughton. This particular piece was purchased from Hello Friend Fabrics and is also available for preorder from Fabric by Missy Rose (off link).
To make the colours in this vibrant design ‘pop’ I paired it with some black Cotton Lycra from Lush Fabrics which I used for the main.
This version of the top is a size 2XL, short sleeve, banded hem made according to the pattern instructions without adjustment. You can get the pattern here.
Overall I am happy with the look, comfort and feel of this top. Being a larger size I may consider a slight bicep adjustment for a slightly looser feel through the sleeve for wearing in the hotter months. I think mashing with another pattern to achieve more of a tulip or butterfly sleeve allowing airflow would increase comfort in the summer months. I will definitely be adding this to my make again list.
Happy Sewing,
Tara xx
